Today is December 4, 2014, not December 4, 1914 or 1714.
This is 2014, there is nearly nothing you want to do that will be a truly new idea. It has existed before! I will even try to prove it.
Online shopping and discounted sales is not an entirely new concept. It is the definition of online that changed. Previously, people talk about mail order business in which you scan through a newspaper advert featuring goods for sale or the merchant distributes a catalog of goods available. You send the money and the merchant sends you the goods. This system is what evolved into what we now refer to as e-commerce.
I repeat, there is scarcely any new concept that will be invented now. What every forward thinking business man actually does is to spice up what already exists and make it look more appealing.
Every business owner needs to look at how she can make her business stand out and not blend in to look like what every other person is doing. Add some spice, add some effizy.
You can even add some pepper. I started consuming more akara balls in 2009 because I stumbled upon a woman who was sprinkling suya pepper and onions on her akara. It gave it a distinctively new flavour and transformed my akara eating experience, I was hooked and did not stop patronising her until I moved out of the neighborhood. Too bad she did not have an online store and home delivery….
Make the business work better, add more value, do something. Just because you have created a new business venture does not guarantee instant success. You will be amazed at how far you will go if you dare take the leap and standout.
People now have choices, dozens of choices. Can you spice up your offer so that you get picked more often?
Food for thought, certainly.

Watching The World
- Supermart certainly knows how to spice things up. In this age and time when everybody is doing boring email marketing, they seem to be doing something interesting.
- The company that produces one of the most popular weapons of all time; the AK-47 has rebranded. Their new marketing tagline is “weapons of peace”. (They are actually hoping that one day their brand will become as powerful as Apple’s)
- Our friends at Google are working on making their products more child friendly.
