Personal Standards

These days, the level of immaturity and mediocrity that our Nigerian society seems to encourage is quite high. You can get away with crap and still get to be hailed as king of them all.

This is an unfortunate development, because we are living in an increasing global world. I no longer have to be the best programmer in my “city”, I have to rank as high as possible on a global scale. I have to provide a good reason why I should be picked ahead of the competition.

When buying online from China or Nigeria will cost me the same thing, and the delivery period is roughly the same waiting period, why should I buy from you?

It seems Nigerians have so far decided to live by quite low standards and this is permeating through everything we do. The way I see it, if we are serious about competing on the big stage, we might just have to set our own personal standards, using globally acceptable benchmarks. Real standards, excellence all the way.
