People who know me, know that I disdain motivational speakers and some kind of consultants. I do not like bloggers who make money by telling others how to make money or consistently telling others how to blog. if you know how to make money in billions, go and make the money. If you know how to build successful blogs, build a dozen of them and then start sharing your methods.
I think such people are no better than scammers. They have the knowledge (or at least, so they claim to have the knowledge) to build real profitable businesses, but they are not doing anything productive in that regard, rather than sit down and do the hard work needed to build a real business, everyone now wants to hold meetings to discuss how to become Entrepreneurs, everyone now wants to create CDs and Books about self discovery and entrepreneurship.
If we all keep talking about the work, when will we finally get it done? If we all keep creating “Entrepreneurship development” fora, schemes and seminars, when will the Entrepreneurs then finally emerge and do the real (hard) work of building real companies?
The world needs less talkers and more doers. When I read about organisations who say they are in “business” to train 1,000 leaders, I merely shake my head in disdain. You do not raise leaders by holding seminars, You raise leaders by sending them to war. No matter what you do, there is no nice way to really learn a lesson.
We do not want to hear you re-hash everything you read in books. We are not really interested in all the quotable quotes you have crammed either. Do something (apart from organising seminars), show us and then we will want to connect with you. We need people who are doing real work that we can connect with.
Talking about the work is not profitable, talking about the work still leaves the work undone. Action-oriented conversations is what we need and only people working hard can lead such conversations.
