A lot of people advise Entrepreneurs to focus only on sales and marketing. In obedient fashion, Entrepreneurs also only develop skills in sales and marketing, ignoring every other aspect of the work.
I honestly think advising people sales and marketing is all there is to a business is simply wrong.
Every now and then, I run into brilliant people who have this brilliant idea for an app or a website and they are convinced they will become very successful if they can get it done. the only challenge is that they are only interested in marketing the platform and not building the platform. I once asked one of them the obvious question: how do you market a product that has not even been made? And so, they keep looking for a team of very ambitious, visionary people who will help them build their idea.
You might be thinking this only applies to digital businesses. No. It cuts across everything.
More people will make greater advancement in their business if only they actually understood how it works as opposed to simply understanding how to market it.
