Mental labor

Mental labor is very important for coming up with ideas and concepts that are truly revolutionary. Too many people give up and say “Boy! I just dont have any ideas”.

They give up after 30 seconds of trying.

They are not to take the blame completely though, a lot of rubbish has been peddled around as fact these days. We have all been deceived and nearly brain washed into thinking great ideas just float in, they just drop into our mind.

And so, many of us are waiting for a good one to drop in. You will keep waiting and you will get nothing!

There is a mental labor required to be done, a lot of critical thinking. You have to go over the details, go over what you want to do over and over again before the pieces will slowly start fitting together in your mind and the great idea will then appear.

When people say an idea just dropped into their mind, if they are honest with you they admit that they had certainly spent a considerable amount of time thinking in that direction. The idea dropping into their mind when they were not actively thinking about it is because of the brain’s background thought processing activities. Our brain is capable of taking a problem we have been thinking about and keep trying to solve it until it gets a result, but is after we have spent a considerable amount of time actively thinking about it.

So, let us embrace mental labor

When you need an idea, a good one, sit down and think.

  • Start with comprehensive research, what noteworthy things have other people done in this line of work?
  • Sit down and try to develop your own idea
  • if nothing comes up, take a rest, eat and sleep, go watch a  movie
  • Sit down again and this time (if you really observe) you will make more progress
  • Reject the first idea that pops into your mind – It is usually the easy one. CRUDE OIL is never found on the surface. The solid things are usually found deeply within
  • Take a walk, go to a quiet corner in town
  • Understand that this whole business will take time, be ready to invest the time. It is always worth it!

This is a rough guide to help you get that elusive next idea and I am sure it will be helpful. Feel free to reply and ask your questions.
