Giving it away

Succeeding in life requires much more than just working hard and praying for luck. There are certain spiritual principles that holds the world in place, that is why I think it is sheer deceit for us to claim we are discussing business without any regard for spiritual principles. It is not enough for business leaders to write about how they built their enterprises, they should also tell us about their spiritual convictions.

I was stunned when I stumbled upon this verse inside the bible:

“If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD — and he will repay you!” – Proverbs 19:17 NLT

The depth of the message behind this hit me hard. While I have certainly heard about the message of giving – sowing and reaping, this was a new dimension. Whenever we help people who cannot reciprocate in any way, we have just rendered help to the LORD and the LORD will now repay us, richly.

This is obviously a spiritual principle that will work for anybody who applies it, regardless of their spiritual convictions. A lot of holier than thou Christians always think it unfair that such things happen, but hey! Who are we to judge the LORD’s wise decisions to make things so?

When something is a principle, it has to be binding universally and ignorance does not deprive you of its effect. Gravity is a universally binding effect, a new born baby cannot defy gravity just because he is a baby and unwise.

It is not a grand mistake that the wealthiest people on the planet are also the most generous. (Click and read: How 8 Billionaires are giving money away to charitable courses). The wealthiest people on the planet are those who do some philanthropy. It became clear to me that you attract as much wealth as you can give away. If you are unwilling to give away millions, millions will not flow towards you.

If this giving and repay back principle were not working, the wealthiest people in the world would not be doing it. As a businessmen, we look at making sound business decisions and if a decision to give wasn’t proving to be valuable, they would have stopped. Yes, I am implying that giving away your time, resources and money to people who cannot repay you is actually a business move. A decision that comes from your heart and not from your head.

I think it is a totally smart idea to look for people you can help get on their feet. People who cannot reciprocate in anyway, by doing so you are getting yourself in line.

Personally, I have sunk a lot of my resources into helping people who cannot pay me back (in some cases, I am even unrecognised, unappreciated, but I don’t care) and I have certainly come to realise that the good LORD has indeed been repaying me. This thing works!

You do not give because you are rich, you give because you have a heart to give. And once you do that, you are lending unto the LORD and he will pay you back, he never owes anyone, never!
