Defining Success

What exactly does success means to you?

Different people with completely different parameters for success. What you deem as a successful outcome might not be seen as such by another person.

We all get into various ventures for different reasons and that is ok. But we have to have a benchmark of what it means to be successful.

For example, success for you might be to just start a new venture and if that is the case, then you might as well just quit the venture the next day after starting out. Because the mission has been accomplished.

Having success therefore is a personal issue. If you really wanted to be a medical doctor but somehow ended up owning a Walmart-scale retail chain globally, are you still successful?

Therefore, to answer a question such whether Konga.com or Iroko TV are successful startups requires us to sit down the visionary men running those startups and then quiz them over their own metrics for success. It is not enough to tout them around as success stories if we do not know if they have achieved what they set out to achieve in the first place.
