I am happy and proud to a member of my own generation, a generation that finally has the boldness to challenge century old belief systems and patterns.
I was nurturing thoughts of dropping out on church and God altogether around 2010, but then things changed and I got to experience God in first person and so, these days…. I have a deep and intimate relationship with God that cannot be shaken away.
There is a wave of atheism rising, young Christians are packing up their bibles, declaring that the whole Christian thing is a scam and there is no God in heaven. This is good. Seriously.
I think it is way better to come out clean that God is not real to you than to pretend to conform and continue to add up to our numbers.
Previous generations before ours had this same questions, they asked, they got shut down and got commanded to comply, they did, their lives are not working. Yet, they still blindly push us towards the same route…. and this is why we are in this mess right now.
Most Christian leaders we have now do not have any first-hand knowledge of God, nor they do even understand what they are professing and as such they cannot satisfactorily debate biblical facts with their disciples. They shove it down their throats.
The questions have always been there, there are so many things inside the bible that we cannot explain and when we ask honest, intelligent questions, our religious leaders hypocritically shut us down.
Christianity has become another name for hypocrisy, we do not debate anything shoved down our throats. We go to church on Sundays where we all play nice; we sing, we listen to a sermon and even pray to a God we do not have faith in. The moment we leave church, we forget all that and get back to business as usual.
Our Christianity is on rocks because people are not getting answers. Unlike Judaism, the religion from which Christianity emerged. In Judaism, I heard that intense debate is allowed and encouraged, you must have heard that Jesus was debating and challenging scriptures at age 12, that incident was not unique to Jesus only. Jews are always debating and challenging their scriptures and as a result, every Jew that remains true to their religion knows without fail that it works, they can bank upon it. Christians cannot.
My generation has real questions and we need to give them real answers.
You can no longer shut them down or command compliance with the old rugged cross principles. You need to really know what you are teaching.
I admit that been a Christian requires a leap of faith, because not everything will make sense, not everything has to make sense. However, I cannot deny that there are huge gaps of our knowledge and understanding about how God works that Christian leaders need to improve upon.
We Christian leaders need to brace up, armed with sound biblical facts so that we can supply really relevant answers to our people when they demand it.
May the LORD be able to depend upon us in this precarious times. (Amen)
