Communication is oxygen

Communication in business is as important as oxygen is to living. Without oxygen, we suffocate and die, we do not stand a chance.

Businesses ought to be available 24 hours a day.

In reality, it is not easy to be available around the clock like that. Especially if you are a freelancer or understaffed startup trying to find your feet.

I also find it tough to do so today, with so much incoming and so much to keep track of. I try my best to keep up and I automate some things to make it easier, but every now and then, you keep falling short.

If I know that if I am not able to communicate effectively, it is worth fixing it. I found 3 tips that would work for me:

First of all, work on your command of the language itself. Are you an effective communicator? If you lack the ability to express yourself with clarity, you might still end up hurting yourself in the long run.

Second, communication can be delegated. It is not compulsory that the boss has to respond to everything personally. This is tricky as everyone wants to have the oga’s attention, you have to remember that oga has got only 24hours in a day…

Third, embrace technology. There are many fantastic tools out there that can take the pain out of communications with clients and customers. Use them.

Nobody likes been left in the dark. Keep your business alive by communicating clearly and often.
