After the discussion of the effect AI is having on jobs, a lot of people have been asking to know which industries are AI-proof.
None.
AI systems will be applied into every sector and every industry. I see AI systems even replacing computer programmers, I would be severely disappointed if human beings are still needed to write any form of software in 30 years time.
So, what will we be doing?
AI excels at repetitive tasks. If your work is something that can reduced into rules/methods… an AI system can takeover. However, human can tackle novel tasks and connect the dots. AI cannot.
If your day job can be simplified into checking a form to see if it is properly filled and then stamping it,that job is gone already. Right now, if the Nigerian Government invested into AI systems, I know they will be able to slash the workforce by over 70% and yet they will boost productivity by over 80%.
However, who will bell this cat?? Any government that tries that right now will be vilified, but it will happen. It has to happen.
Bottom line: if your work involves handling unique situations and is not repetitive, you are fine. People who work in the really creative department of their work will continue to thrive.
AI-proof your future. Get creative.
