People say startups do not die from murder by their competition, they usually die from suicide and tend to agree for the most part.
I recently found myself thinking about Facebook’s new war on snapchat and I remembered that several years ago, it was Facebook vs Twitter in the war zone.
Today, Twitter seems to be done.
However, Facebook did not succeed in killing Twitter. The twitterisation of Facebook did not work, people continued flocking to Twitter. They hit Twitter hard with everything they had but Twitter remained strong and continued to make good progress.
But then one bad decision after another and today, Twitter is looking dead: Twitter killed Twitter.
Your business is not dying because of serious competition. It is dying because you are not paying attention to your own race. Champions race and face their front, they rarely race while facing their competition.
New startups eventually kill themselves.
