The real way to service the customers

The first week of October is designated Customer Service Week in many parts of the world. It is an international celebration of the importance of customer service and of the people who serve and support customers on a daily basis.

You probably received emails to that effect from various businesses you patronise just like I did, a particular Nigerian tech company even went a step further to call me and thank me for continued patronage.

The issue was that I would certainly have preferred better, faster service from them than the phone call. The phone call was generic, nothing specific was mentioned about me or my needs, just that they were celebrating Customer Service Week by calling up their customers and saying thank you. The caller did not at any point ask for feedback about their services or whether I was as excited as they were about the celebration or their phone call.

Lame.

Very lame.

The real way to service our customers is by striving to provide great service every single time. People paid for services and they should get it without much hassle. There should also be a great customer service to go alongside the business.

Customer service week is great, it allows us to have some timeout to appreciate and be appreciated. We must however realise that customer service has to be top notch round-the-clock, every single day.

You don’t want to be customer care-less.
