It is a question of focus

Ibukun Awosika loves to play a simple game; she says if you call on 2 people who have been in business for about 5 years and one of them is successful while the other one is not, the difference between the man who has made it and the one who is yet to succeed is focus.

In most cases, the successful man only tried out ONE business idea in the whole 5 years and became successful. The unsuccessful business man on the other hand is more likely to have tried 5 – 10 ideas within the same time period.

I do not believe that there is any idea that cannot work out if we patiently work at it and decide to commit to it for the long haul, if we keep jumping from idea to idea at the first challenge encountered, we can never hit the jackpot.

As we plan out 2015 and decide on which endeavors to sink or keep working upon, I think Awosika’s eye opener is worth thinking about. Inasmuch as some projects are actually bad market and should be eliminated, we should also be careful about it.

Have we given enough time, energy and focus to the idea we are about to kill?
