How to sell through Facebook

How to sell via Facebook

Facebook is not a social network
Facebook is not a dating site
Facebook is not a chatting site
Facebook is not a job search site

Mr Ademola, then what exactly is Facebook?

Simple, Facebook is a tool that can do whatever we want it to do. We can use Facebook to stay connected with friends, read latest news, chat with strangers and get jobs (I have certainly gotten jobs via Facebook before)

Facebook is a robust platform that can be used to facilitate buying and selling. The Facebook company is currently working on a BUY button! That will make shopping on the site even more explicit.

Personally, I believe Facebook took too long to develop official tools to help users buy and sell. People have long devised other means, let me share a hilarious case study with you.

When I discuss ecommerce with people, they always insist it will not work for them. They say ecommerce is for digital goods and services like software and membership fees, not for ‘serious’ businesses like books, clothes and cars. When you say Amazon is making it big, they counter that Amazon cannot survive in Nigeria.

Phew!

The truth is that if you have a Facebook account, you can slap a price tag on anything and take a picture of it, upload it and people will find it and contact you.

People are using this method to sell SHEEP. Not a software named sheep, I mean a real life animal!! Check out this Facebook group if you do not believe me. There is a sheep trader that uses it in Kuwait (He uses Instagram), if it works for a SHEEP TRADER in KUWAIT, why would it not WORK for DAPO or NGOZI in Nigeria?

hmmmmmmm

What can you do?

1. Decide on what you want to sell
2. Choose a specific audience you want to connect to
3. Put a price tag on it, upload photographs of the product(s)
4. Make arrangements with local courier companies so that you can make deliveries to your customers

Let me help your faith. What I just described is exactly how Richard Branson and his Virgin Group of companies started.

Enough food for thought for today then, We will dig in deeper tomorrow, feel free to hit reply and ask your questions.
Do great stuff,
M.
