So, a judge blocked Whatsapp in Brazil again. Na wa o!

Interesting times as a judge in Brazil suspended Whatsapp for 100 million people in the country. The reason for the suspension was not made public. An appeals court already overturned the application’s second suspension in five months.

Not so many governments are comfortable with private companies having so much power in their countries. Unlike phone calls and SMS that are based on open technologies… things like Whatsapp are closed and not open to the government’s sniffing.

Facebook Inc’s Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg called on Brazilians to demand his company’s WhatsApp messaging service never be blocked again. And really, this is a pivotal moment.

If nations across the world start blocking things like Whatsapp for not co-operating, I wonder where this will lead us.

When we work in the business of inventing and innovating, building out the future, we must also be ready to FIGHT the incumbents, the status quo guardians who will kick back against us.

Resisting change is one thing humans are good at.
